EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Brophy East Swim Team (BEST) Boosters desire a Family Participation Policy to guide BEST athlete families in the fair and equitable service and support of BEST athletes, coaches, and programs. Family participation is important because it provides needed support for BEST and the swimming community. Upon acceptance by Brophy, the BEST Boosters will implement and manage the policy.The goal of the Family Participation Policy is to establish goals for all BEST families to provide volunteer service to BEST. The policy defines an annual service goal for each family at BEST and identifies possible service activities. The service activities include: hosting BEST swim meets; BEST administrative support; BEST spirit / coach support; special projects; away meets; official’s training; and other volunteerism. Each family’s annual service goal can be met through participation in two home swim meets per year or participation in the other service areas, including away swim meets.A participation coordinator will account for family service and provide updates of participation success quarterly. In-lieu of volunteer hours, a family may elect to financially compensate the program through contributions to Brophy. The BEST Booster Board will review the participation policy and set the service goals each year.

GOAL STATEMENT

The goal of the Family Participation Policy is to facilitate fair and equitable family participation to support BEST athletes and coaches, BEST programs, and the swimming community.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of the Family Participation Policy is to organize, structure, and guide family participation practices to ensure BEST needs are met and all families have opportunities to participate in their family’s swimming experiences.

SERVICE GOALS AND ELIGIBILITY
1. BEST Families With One Or More Athletes In White, Red, Blue, Bronze, Silver, And Gold Teams
2. BEST Families With One Or More Athletes In Rising Suns And No Swimmers On White – Gold Teams
  - Annual Service Goal of 150 service credits per family
  - Annual Service Goal Period September 1 – August 31
  - Annual Service Goal pro-rated monthly for new members joining after October 1
3. Service Credits Earned At BEST Activities/Events
  - Full Service Credit Earned by Volunteerism At BEST Swim Meets Held at the Dottie Boreyko/Brophy Sports Campus
  - Full Service Credit Earned at BEST Activities and Events
  - Full Service Credit Earned By Volunteerism At High School Swim Meets Held At The Dottie Boreyko/Brophy Sports Campus
  - ½ Service Credit Earned By Volunteerism At BEST Away Swim Meets

FAMILY PARTICIPATION CREDIT ACCOUNT AND ADMINISTRATION

Sign-Up for Service Activity At Sports Campus Office

Sports Campus Office will maintain copies of sign-ups

Family Participation Policy Credit Coordinator Tracks Credit Accumulation

Per BEST Family, credits will be accumulated based on sign-up and service
Each quarter, the credit status for each family will be updated during the swim year (Sept – Aug)
Mitigating circumstances will be considered if a BEST Family misses the annual service goal

Booster Board Will Recommend Awards to Recognize Outstanding Contributions
In Cases Where A BEST Family Elects NOT To Participate In Annual Volunteer Service, The BEST Booster Board May Recommend To Brophy That A Volunteer Fee Be Assessed At A Rate Of $2 Per Credit Not To Exceed $600
